WITH THE WORLD in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic, a hospital in Wuhan, China, has a new hospital ward staffed entirely by 5G-connected robots. – robots in hospitals
The medical bots are being used to prevent medical staff from contracting the COVID-19 virus.
Wuhan is where the coronavirus outbreak first appeared, and from there it has spread across the globe, moving from an epidemic into a pandemic.
China imposed some strong quarantine and lockdown measures to reduce the spread of the virus within its borders.
How Its Helping?
The robots have been given a wide variety of tasks, ranging from cleaning the ward to delivering drugs to the patients. Some look like automated
trolleys, while others have a humanoid appearance, and were donated to the temporary ward by AI company CloudMinds.
Elsewhere in China, robots are being used to serve up advice to people concerned about the coronavirus, with CloudMinds using the Pepper
the humanoid robot, provided by SoftBank’s robotics division, in Shanghai as well as the Wuhan hospital.
